KNOW RNA Research Centre in Poznań at The Faculty of Biology, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and The Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań, with help from The Committee on Molecular Biology of the Cell, Polish Academy of Sciences organizes the conference entitled “4th Post-EURASNET Meeting”.

The conference will be held in the Collegium Biologicum of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland on September 28-30, 2016 and will be organized as a consequence of three previous meetings held three times in Trieste (Italy, in 2012, 2014 and 2015). The conference aims to gather former European 2006-2011 Network of Excellence project – EURopean Alternative Splicing NETwork (EURASNET) members. Our university scientists: Prof. dr hab Artur Jarmołowski, Prof. dr hab. Janusz Bujnicki and Prof. dr hab. Zofia Szweykowska-Kulińska participated in the EURASNET. The conferences gather also many other scientists from all over the world interested in alternative RNA splicing and its role played in human, animal and plant disease.

Approximately 140 scientists from 18 countries, including USA, Canada, China, Argentina, Brazil, India, UK, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Portugal and Poland will take part in the 4th Post-EURASNET Meeting in Poznań.

The conference theme includes the role of alternative RNA splicing in human development and significance of the process disorders in development of the pathomechanisms of different diseases (cancers, ataxias, mental illnesses, the nervous system development, the stem and progenitor cells of the nervous system, hematopoiesis and other processes and disorders) as well as the proposals of experimental therapies for combating diseases/malformations connected with alternative splicing disorders. In the case of plants, the research results are presented with regard to the role of alternative RNA splicing in plant development and response to environmental cues.

The 4th Post-EURASNET Meeting will be held under the auspices of President of the City of Poznań Mr. Jacek Jaśkowiak and His Magnificence Rector of Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznań Prof. dr hab. Andrzej Lesicki. The conference is also supported financially by Ministry of Science and Higher Education subsidy on Science Dissemination Activity and by the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) travel and accommodation grants for young participants. Such meetings stimulate further fruitful studies and new collaborations.
